Percona transitioned its Percona Everest product into OpenEverest, an independent open source project announced on January 8, 2026. The platform provides automated database provisioning and management for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB on Kubernetes.

Modular Architecture for Database Operations

OpenEverest handles database provisioning and scaling, backups and disaster recovery, role-based access control, and flexible resource allocation using respective Percona operators for each engine. The redesigned modular architecture enables users to mix and match database engines, storage backends, and deployment strategies according to their requirements.

Open Governance Model

The project operates with open governance designed to encourage participation from individuals, partners, and organizations beyond Percona. To support community development, Percona created Solanica, a wholly owned subsidiary focused specifically on developing OpenEverest and nurturing its multi-vendor community.

Expanding Database Support

Current support covers MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB clusters on Kubernetes. Planned additions include ClickHouse, Vitess, DocumentDB, and Valkey, plus integrations with Prometheus and other observability platforms. The open source model aims to accelerate feature development through community contributions while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability.
